Smart construction logistics paves the way for scientific innovation

The Norwegian Ocean Technology Center is a future research facility which with it’s size and technology will be almost unique in the world. Therefore, it is with pride, enthusiasm and humility that we take on this assignment. We are happy to have the opportunity to contribute with experience, competence and our system. Obviously, the execution of this project will involve challenges with regard to surrounding activities, requirements for safety, environmental impact, efficiency and ensuring supply chain flows.” says Anders Eklund, Director of Myloc Construction at Myloc.

The project in short

The Norwegian Ocean Technology Center will be one of the world’s most advanced facilities for research and education in marine technology. The center gives NTNU and SINTEF access to world-class facilities and premises.

The principal part of the Norwegian Ocean Technology Center will be established at Tyholt in Trondheim. Although parts of the existing building stock will be reworked and updated, most of the project concerns the construction of new research buildings. In total, the new construction at Tyholt in Trondheim will cover about 45,000 square meters. The site expansion will mainly involve areas that are currently used as parking lots. The cost of the project is estimated at 9.3 billion NOK.
