Lyckeby shores up and optimizes the flow of starch potatoes to their factories with new system support from Myloc Logistics

Lyckeby develops, produces, markets and distributes innovative potato-based specialty starches and fibers for the food and paper industries worldwide. As part of the Lyckeby Group – an economic association with members in southern Sweden, Lyckeby has strong roots in agriculture, which ensures a stable and high-quality raw material supply.
Each year, Lyckeby plans and administers the year’s potato campaign for their producers. Between August and February, intensive work is underway to receive the potato farmers’ harvest for processing, followed by deliveries of seed potatoes for seed for the next growing season. The annual wheel for Lyckeby has certain fixed points and rolls on according to the cultivation calendar. The weather, and conditions that can never be fully controlled, often dictate the conditions. Sometimes delivery flows suddenly have to be scaled up or down and need to be able to be replanned at short notice.
“Ultimately, we and our producers want to get as much value out of what we produce as possible. The earnings per potato are quickly eaten up by unnecessary overhead costs if our processes and flows are not efficient enough,” says Joakim Modén, head of Supply Chain and bookings and delivery plan management at Lyckeby.
Lyckeby’s logistics managers have been running an internal logistics project that is now taking the next step with the implementation of the logistics system from Myloc. In combination with an updated web portal for the suppliers, the aim is to gather all the necessary information for the operation of the business in one interface. Making it easy to find the right points of contact, and instead of information from different growers being spread out and getting stuck along the way, everything can now be documented in the logistics platform. A big step forward that makes it easier for Lyckeby’s employees to share information about limitations or needs and take this into account when planning bookings and deliveries. According to Joakim, it’s not just about making the logistics more efficient; Lyckeby’s goal is also to simplify its processes, enable joint planning and create greater clarity for all actors in the transport chain.
“Through the partnership with Myloc, we want to take another step in the digitalization of our business. We want to bring more facts into the planning of our organization to drive further improvements, and get a tool we can live with for a long time. With Myloc Logistics, we have found a solution that is adaptable in a way that suits us, that helps us communicate and makes important information more accessible.”
We at Myloc are proud that Lyckeby has chosen us as their system supplier and we look forward to supporting them in making potato logistics management easier.
