Myloc’s platform enables circular construction in Ragn-Sell’s new service: Reboost™

Myloc supplies the logistics portal behind Ragn-Sell's new collaborative network for recycling of building materials.

In order to reach demanding climate goals, the reuse of building materials has become an increasingly hotter topic for actors in the Swedish construction and real estate industries. However, ambitions to put concepts around circular business models into practice are often halted by challenges in achieving and maintaining efficient logistics flows. Ragn-Sells is now launching Reboost™, a membership-based collaboration for quality-assured reuse of building and installation materials, supported by a custom developed ordering portal from Myloc.

A key to circular construction

The real estate and construction sectors account for a significant portion of current resource consumption and waste generation. At the same time, there is enormous potential in recycling fully functional materials. But the logistics around reuse are complex, and there has been a lack of system support that can handle the necessary information exchanges. Getting circular flows to actually spin requires integrations, well-thought-out warehouse management, and a transparent marketplace that can match supply with demand.

Myloc’s logistics specialists have contributed in the development of the strategy behind the initiative, and also supplies the Reboost™ digital platform where controlled products are published and made available for order for network members. Castellum and AMF Fastigheter are the first partners to join the service, and the plan moving forward is to continue to grow with more connected members from the construction and real estate industry.

“Myloc is an important and flexible partner for us in developing and implementing the Reboost™ recycling services. Through their system, we find new ways to solve old problems and tackle the complex needs of the industry.” says business developer Niklas Arnby at Ragn-Sells.

From “all or nothing” to flexible choices

Reboost™ combines logistics services with digital support so that materials from demolition or renovation projects can be inventoried and categorized to be made available again. Through Myloc’s portal, the products can then easily find a new owner to be used again in another project.

Many existing recycling services use grouped postings, causing certain disadvantages. Often, a prospective buyer must book the entire holding in bulk – regardless of their actual needs. One reason for this is limitations in ability to efficiently handle invoicing between all the different parties. A major challenge that easily become a chilling effect on circular investments, and which existing business systems are unable to process without time-consuming extra admin. Recycled materials then become expensive and inefficient alternatives for material supply, and also risks producing new unnecessary residues and waste. This causes inertia in the market for recycling services.

Ragn-Sells and Myloc tackle the challenge from a new angle

At the Reboost™ recycling hub, Ragn-Sells staff receive products from member organisations for reuse. The condition is assessed before individual items are posted s bookable inventory available for purchase in the e-commerce portal. The platform’s item management functionality allows users to order exactly the quantity they need, and Ragn-Sells staff then pack, coordinate and plan transport.

Digitization as a driver for circularity

As the construction industry shifts towards more sustainable circular flows, digital logistics is the facilitating backbone that makes it possible. By providing the infrastructure for item-based management, and detailed traceability for project statistics and CO2e compilations, Myloc’s platform is a crucial prerequisite for the efficiency and availability of the logistics network. Ordering recycled materials becomes as easy as buying new, and the benefits become clear.

Reboost™ in brief

  • Flexible choices: Enables the purchase and sale of recycled materials as needed.
  • Collaboration: Members benefit from shared resources and specialist advice on how to continue expanding economically sustainable circularity.
  • Increased recycling: Lowers the threshold for recycling – Reduced waste and lower environmental impact.
  • Traceability: The system support from Myloc provides full control over where the material is located and its status, with data for invoicing and monitoring of environmental goals.
